Cinch Markets
Building resilience among smallholder farmers
Smallholder communities are among the most vulnerable groups to the effects of climate change. Their relatively low income, low access to capital for adaptation, and heavy dependence on rain-fed agriculture mean that they are among the first to experience significant climate impacts. By developing mosaic farms, composed of leased smallholder plots, Cinch is supporting smallholder communities and enabling them to turn their small size into a strength.
Cinch is, in effect, building a marketplace matching unmet commercial scale demand from offtakers with previously unavailable supply of land. This is a critical part of ensuring that Africa’s demographic growth can be met effectively while supporting and increasing smallholder community resilience.
